Feng Shui Bracelets And How To Use It Right

Feng Shui Bracelets (Pixiu) do increase your financial wealth, improve your health, and better your relationships. However, Pixiu isn’t why. You’re the reason.

Feng Shui Is About Arranging Your Surroundings To Benefit You

A properly arranged environment creates a quiet space.

Feng Shui, which translates to “wind-water,” was originally an ancient Chinese practice. The art involves arranging the environment to achieve balance and harmony and is based on the belief that the energy, or “Qi,” flows through everything in our surroundings. The goal of Feng Shui is to optimize this flow, leading to improved health, happiness, and prosperity.

While “Qi” has never been scientifically proven, there are a number of studies supporting the effectiveness of altering one’s immediate environment and how it influences behavior. In another article, I wrote about this extensively.

Among the various tools used in Feng Shui, bracelets have become of interest. They are believed to enhance positive energies and bring good fortune to the wearer.

Feng Shui Bracelets Are Ways To Get Better Results

Feng Shui bracelets are typically made from natural materials like gemstones, crystals, and metals, each carrying specific, alleged energies and properties. These bracelets are often adorned with various symbols and colors, representing different symbolic aspects of life, such as love, wealth, health, and protection. By wearing these, it’s supposed to attract good luck, ward off negative energies, and enhance your overall well-being.

Pixiu, an ancient mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a dragon, is often paired with Feng Shui bracelets. This creature is believed to have a voracious appetite for wealth and prosperity. Its presence in these bracelets is thought to attract and safeguard wealth. Typically, Pixiu is depicted with an open mouth, metaphorically ready to intake abundance.

According to various Chinese legends, the Pixiu is said to be the ninth son of a dragon, born with an insatiable hunger for gold, silver, and other treasures. However, its greed led to its downfall, as the Jade Emperor, the ruler of heaven, punished Pixiu by sealing its anus. As a result, Pixiu could only consume but not expel its accumulated wealth, which symbolized the creature’s continuous accumulation of prosperity and good fortune without loss.

There Are Rules To Wearing A Feng Shui Bracelet

Learn the rules to whatever you are doing.

To receive the purported benefits of a Feng Shui bracelet (the power of Pixiu), there are a series of rules and requirements for proper “activation”. During my initial research, I couldn’t locate the precise origin of those rules, but I did find a general agreement among most practitioners.

As I personally own and use a Feng Shui bracelet, these also happen to be the same rules and rituals I abide by.

1. Direction of the Pixiu: The Pixiu charm on the bracelet should typically be positioned with its head facing outward, away from the body, symbolizing the attraction and accumulation of wealth. This is supposed to gather wealth and protect the wearer from financial loss.

2. Wearing Hand: The Pixiu bracelet is usually worn on the left hand, as the left side, according to doctrine, is considered the receptive side of the body and believed to absorb the energies Pixiu attracts.

3. Cleansing and Activation: Before wearing the bracelet, the belief recommends cleansing it, thus removing any negative energies it may have absorbed. This can be done through various methods such as smudging it with sage, placing it under moonlight, or using salt water. Additionally, the bracelet might be “cleanly activated” by wearing it for the first time during an auspicious date and time.

I didn’t do any of that except wash my bracelet in the bathroom sink under running water. I did, however, quietly chant, “Thank you for what you are about to do. I welcome you. I appreciate you.”

4. Maintenance: The bracelet should be kept clean and free from dirt or negative energies, such as frequent bouts of anger or argument. Regularly clean it with a soft cloth and avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals or environments.

Essentially, treat Pixiu like a living being, giving it a sense of love and affection.

5. Respect and Belief: While wearing the bracelet, the legend says it’s important to believe in its symbolism and power. Feng Shui relies on intention and belief, so wearing the bracelet with a positive mindset is supposed to enhance its effects.

Early on, I wore the bracelet during my daily meditations, during which I focused on peace, relaxation, general abundance, and thankfulness.

6. Wearing Periods: Some sources suggest that the bracelet should not be worn continuously. Instead, specific periods, such as during the entire year of the wearer’s Chinese zodiac sign, or only during very serene moments, like meditation or relaxing walks, are the best times. Others recommend wearing it continuously so as to attract positive energy at all times.

During my initial time with Pixiu, I wore it during the day, mostly while at work, and then took it off in the evenings. I never observed any specific time or went out of my way to wear the bracelet within a confined period.

7. Touching the Pixiu: It’s believed that touching the Pixiu charm frequently can strengthen the connection between the charm and the wearer. This connection is said to enhance the flow of positive energy.

Focused on the Pixiu directly.

Throughout my day, especially during moments where performance was a factor (sales, meetings, measurable tasks like finishing a report quickly, etc), I would gently caress or pet the Pixiu dragon, softly saying what I would like it to accomplish.

For example, I would pet the dragon’s head and whisper, “Ok, Pixiu. We’re going to sell this much today.”, or “Pixiu, you’re going to help me get this done faster.” Things like that.

8. Avoid Other People Touching It: The Pixiu bracelet is meant for one person, and the longer it remains connected to that person, the stronger the bond. This is supposed to result in the Feng Shui dragon working even more effectively. If someone does touch or accidentally rub against it, as soon as possible, rinse or wash the entire bracelet, dry it gently, and put it back on.

Maintaining this ritual, during some of my interactions, others did come in contact with my Feng Shui bracelet. When that happened, as soon as I could, I removed the bracelet, held it under running water, dried it, and slipped it back on.

9. Avoiding Certain Situations: It’s often recommended to avoid wearing the bracelet when visiting hospitals, attending funerals, or engaging in activities that may involve negative energy. According to legend, this is to prevent the Pixiu from absorbing unfavorable energies.

Generally, I limited (and still do) my Feng Shui bracelet wearing to whenever I was working or performing various chores, such as grocery shopping. Social events like concerts, attending parties, or going to the gym, I usually did not wear the charm. While those events are not necessarily negative, they do increase the likelihood that Pixiu will either come into physical contact with someone. I also wanted to avoid alcohol or any other recreational drug coming into contact with it.

10. Do Not Sleep With It On: A number of practitioners have said wearing the Feng Shui bracelet will cause nightmares and significant disruption if you wear it as you sleep. The claim is that Pixiu’s ceaseless working energy is counter to the body’s and mind’s need to rest. As such it will create turmoil. Furthermore, it’s been said that having the bracelet resting on your night desk will also negatively influence your sleep.

I can’t confirm nor deny if this is true. I’ve never worn the bracelet while sleeping, nor do I keep it in the bedroom. Instead, every evening when I arrive home, I remove Pixiu from my left hand and rest it in an open box lined with a soft fabric, its head facing the entrance door. Doing so is supposed to attract even more prosperity and abundance, as Pixiu allegedly never rests.

11. Be Consistent: As with any set of rules or anything you wish to master, the more you practice them, the better the outcome. While initially burdensome, eventually it’ll become second nature.

In My Experience, Feng Shui Bracelets Work Every Time, But Not The Way I Thought

Not as expected.

Having followed the 11 rules, I can genuinely attest to the “power” that comes from Feng Shui bracelets and the claimed efforts of the Pixiu dragon. However, my start wasn’t quite what I expected.

After I chose my Pixiu bracelet, I purchased it and waited for its arrival via the post. When it finally came, I opened the packaging and found the bracelet inside a soft cloth pouch. Carefully removing it, I washed it and said a few positive affirmations about how Pixiu would improve my life. Afterward, I wore the Feng Shui charm as advised by the rules.

I also decided to keep the box and use it as a kind of bed. It remains open, placed on furniture in front of my home’s entrance. Every evening, I retire my Feng Shuii bracelet there, Pixiu’s head facing the door.

Within my first day, things started to happen, but they were far from the promises made.

My car needed some work and was with my mechanic. I had been waiting for an estimated cost when I was suddenly informed of a sudden, necessary repair. That unexpected cost pushed my expenses significantly higher than I anticipated.

Later that day, I received a rather large bill in the mail for another expanse I also wasn’t aware of.

Lastly, and most frustratingly, the next few days at work I had more returns and sales cancellations than I have ever experienced. The results were huge losses in commissions.

Though things were not off to a great start, I decided to stick with the bracelet nonetheless. I continued to practice the 11 rules to see what would happen.

Roughly 2 weeks later, I did incredibly well at work. I had a large influx of sales and earned 3 times more than the commission I had lost.

In that same time period, I also received a surprise check from the government, apparently for something I didn’t know I was owed. The amount not only covered what I spent on my car repair expense, it also comfortably covered the large bill I received in the mail. I even had some money left over.

Since those events, I have been consistently wearing my Feng Shui bracelet, including when I travel. It would appear the results have been astounding. My financial success continues to rise. I have only gotten healthier and happier. I’m also engaged to be married.

As of the date of this article, I have been wearing the Pixiu charm for 2 years.

When Feng Shui Bracelets Break, Their Purpose Has Ended

Done.

While my bracelet has not snapped, practitioners suggest that eventually, it will. When it does, it’s not something to be sad or unhappy about it, but instead a time of rejoicing.

Chinese legends claim that every Pixiu or Feng Shui bracelet selected by its wearer is “destined” for that person. Once the band breaks, that Pixiu’s purpose for the wearer has ended. It’s believed to have then fulfilled its mission.

Should the wearer choose, it then comes time to select a new Feng Shui bracelet and form a fresh relationship with that Pixiu.

Feng Shui Bracelets Have No Power, But You Definitely Do

The power of self perception.

Manifestation, tapping into what can be perceived as spiritual matters, and attempting to leverage unseen forces, has been a topic of debate for literally centuries. While I don’t have any absolute, irrefutable explanations and answers, I can say with confidence a few things.

Feng Shui bracelets are comprised of physical materials, some of which may or may not be well constructed. Regardless of its build, it’s still just a thing. This thing, in and of itself, is a lifeless object devoid of any consciousness that modern science or respected studies have discovered.

The art of Feng Shui, in general, is deeply rooted in Chinese culture and belief systems. While Feng Shui is supported by aspects of science, specifically Environmental Psychology, Pixiu bracelets are often believed to work due to the power of belief alone.

Belief can manifest as a heightened sense of awareness, mindfulness, and positivity. When individuals strongly believe in the abilities of these bracelets, their minds become more attuned to positive changes, and may start noticing improvements in various aspects of their lives. As such, they tend to exhibit higher levels of motivation, persistence, and resilience. This positive mindset can ultimately lead to improved performance and outcomes.

The concept of self-efficacy, proposed by psychologist Albert Bandura, highlights the role of belief in one’s ability to accomplish tasks and overcome challenges. Objects that evoke such beliefs can act as tangible reminders of one’s capabilities, fostering a confident and determined mindset.

In other words, depending on how strongly you may have faith in a Feng Shui bracelet, that belief influences your behavior which leads to actions that produce favorable results.

Belief And Feng Shui Bracelets Can Be Your Psychological Artifacts

Believe

The mysticism of lore, legend, and magical properties certainly have their attractive allure. Sadly, most remain an aspect of storytelling, personal anecdotes, and loosely related accounts of success. Attempts to objectively validate the miraculous qualities of things like Feng Shui Pixiu bracelets have resulted in scientific failures.

As such and far too often, arts like Feng Shui are dismissed entirely.

However, though mythical components are brushed aside, studies of how the mind is affected by the physical practices of Feng Shui (placement of furniture, environment, color, etc), have emerged into what is now known as Environment Psychology.

This leads to a fascinating avenue of research on the influence of objects that instill belief, such as Pixiu bracelets. These objects, often referred to as “psychological artifacts,” have been shown to have a profound impact on an individual’s mindset, motivation, and subsequently, performance. They serve as external representations of internal beliefs and motivations.

For example, an athlete might wear a lucky charm before a competition to boost his or her confidence and enhance their performance. Similarly, a student might keep a specific pen that they associate with success during exams. These artifacts act as psychological triggers, priming the mind for success.

A study published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology found that participants who were given a lucky golf ball performed significantly better on a putting task compared to those without a lucky charm. The presence of the charm appeared to enhance participants’ self-efficacy and confidence, leading to improved performance. (Darke, P. R., & Freedman, J. L. (1997). Lucky events and beliefs in luck: Paradoxical effects on confidence and risk-taking. Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, 33(1), 101-117.)

In a Psychology Today article, Dr. Juliana Breines articulates how belief shapes your reality.

I Know Pixiu Didn’t Really Do Anything, But It’s A Useful Tool

A tool for many purposes

In truth, I know Feng Shui bracelets did nothing more than be a symbol I connected with. I understand it’s a thing without conscious life, or if there is some kind of unknown sentience, I have no way of measuring my interaction with it.

The 11 rituals I adhered to created personal significance. Following the rules were ways for me to feel something positive and be encouraged. It also provided a sense of meaning and debatably the mental substance to bring about desirable change.

When looking at the expenses I described, I perceived them as negative experiences or a series of bad luck. However, in reality, it was just another time of cost. Sometimes business dealings fail. It’s not like I didn’t have periods of heavy expenses or losses prior to that moment. I handled those situations before and I didn’t have a Feng Shui bracelet then, let alone knew one existed.

Regarding the money and success I enjoyed several weeks later, I do credit that to my Feng Shui bracelet.

Side view of a Feng Shui Bracelet

As contradictory as that may sound, Pixiu, as an object, continued to act as a point of contact for me. Each time I looked at it, and touched the bracelet, I subconsciously told myself I would prosper. You could even say the Feng Shui bracelet was motivation to keep going. In a Positive Psychology article, motivation has been found to be a significant contributor to success.

Statistically, the more you do something, the greater the chance you’ll succeed.

Perhaps it was knowing all the money I had spent and calculating the income I had lost that propelled me to work with greater focus. In all honesty, I don’t remember, but it would make sense. There have been countless stories of individuals and groups bouncing back after setbacks, and this situation may have been no different.

Truthfully, I don’t care. I like the results I achieved and continue to enjoy.

There’s no evidence the bracelet has any independent power. However, it’s a dramatized tool I enjoy using to influence my actions toward improving my life. I like it and will keep using it, even if it’s just a nice-looking piece of jewelry. As far as I’m concerned, it’s my psychological artifact that works.

Of course, it’s no different than carrying a rock in your pocket, so long as the rock means something special to you.

Feng Shui Bracelets Are Great For People Over 40

Wearing Feng Shui bracelets, particularly those featuring Pixiu, can offer psychological benefits for individuals over the age of 40.

These bracelets can serve as tangible reminders of personal goals and aspirations. As people age, they often reflect on their life journey and future aspirations. Wearing a Feng Shui bracelet with Pixiu, which is often associated with wealth and prosperity, can act as a symbolic representation of one’s financial and personal goals. This visual cue can stimulate a positive mindset, encouraging men and women to stay focused on their objectives.

Additionally, the act of putting on a Feng Shui bracelet each day can become a mindful ritual. This routine can contribute to a sense of order and stability, providing a brief moment for self-reflection and intention-setting. Such mindfulness practices have been linked to reduced stress levels and improved mental well-being.

Feng Shui and Pixiu Bracelets Work Powerfully Together

Harmony of pieces creating a whole.

The art of Feng Shui (Environmental Psychology) and Pixiu Bracelets (Psychological Artifacts) are 2 interconnected fields that work well together to produce success.

The collaboration between these 2 fields can be observed in numerous areas, such as architecture, urban planning, workplace design, and even marketing.

For instance, in architectural design, incorporating principles of environmental psychology, such as creating spaces with ample natural light, comfortable seating, and pleasing aesthetics, can foster positive emotions and enhance productivity and well-being among occupants. Simultaneously, psychological artifacts like interactive artwork, strategically placed symbols, or soothing color palettes can further evoke desired psychological states, such as relaxation or creativity.

One classic example is the design of retail environments. Retailers often use environmental psychology principles to arrange store layouts, lighting, and product displays to influence consumer behavior. By integrating psychological artifacts like well-placed signage, mood-enhancing scents, or even calming background music, retailers can create a more immersive and enjoyable shopping experience, which often increases customer satisfaction and sales. (Bitner, M. J. (1992). Servicescapes: The impact of physical surroundings on customers and employees. Journal of Marketing, 56(2), 57-71.)

In another article, I wrote about how effective Feng Shui can be to bring about the kind of life you want. Making changes to your environment has been proven to positively influence people, including significantly reducing stress.

Ultimately, if you want a better experience in this life, it often requires forming habits that are conducive to what you desire. Feng Shui and Pixiu bracelets can very much help form those new ways of being, and they make it far more enjoyable.

Investopedia wrote an article explaining how proper habits are what brings about success.

One of the more effective ways to form habits, as shared in this Science Daily article, is to effectively reprogram our thinking. Feng Shui, or Environmental Psychology, is a way of hacking our minds toward a desired way of being.

Adding a Feng Shui / Pixiu bracelet extends those forming habits outside the home and potentially into every area of your life.

Until the next time, cheers!
