It’s a concept deeply rooted in Chinese philosophy, particularly the Taoist belief. In essence, it says that the arrangement of objects and spaces can profoundly impact the quality of your life.

One fundamental principle of Feng Shui is the concept of the Bagua, an octagonal map used to analyze and align various aspects of life within specific areas of your living or working space. Each section of the Bagua corresponds to different life areas, such as health, wealth, love, and career. Arranging objects, colors, and elements in accordance with the Bagua, will “activate” the energy or “Qi” in these areas. 

Another important aspect of Feng Shui is the consideration of the five elements—wood, fire, earth, metal, and water—and their interactions within a space. Each element is associated with specific qualities and attributes. For example, wood represents growth and vitality, while water symbolizes flow and abundance.

The application of these Feng Shui aspects can be implemented using any number of methods and philosophies. The Compass School, Form School and Black Hat Sect are just a few ways.

However, you don’t have to adhere to any particular school or ideology to get good results.

Neglect (damaged, dusty, rust-infested, etc.) items in a room bring sensations of incompleteness, decay, and an impression of stagnation. If possible, it’s wise to either repair or properly maintain these items or remove them altogether.
